Cancer Crushers spots to fill
« on: May 02, 2013, 06:21:09 pm »
We are a fundraising team, raising money for American Cancer Society.  We have a few spots to fill with fun runners that are able to raise money to fight cancer.  Currently we are made of Pediatric nurses and doctors from the Portland area (except 1 from out of state).  Not looking to be the fastest team out there just want to have a good time and raise money for a great cause.  Most of us will be first time Hood to Coast runners but have all done 5k, 10K, and/or halfs.

Hi there!

Do you have an idea of how much each runner is expected to raise?  Also, is the registration for the race separate from the funds raised?

The team needs to raise at least $18000, so with a full team it would be $1500 each.  By fundraising the registration fee is waved.  There is also an area at the finish for the ACS teams that has food and massages.

Hi Leah!

I'm Joe - from Utah.  I'd LOVE to support your team by ensuring a contribution of at least $1500.  I'm a 37M, corporate CEO, and just relocated here from the Portland area.  I've run HTC over 10 times and have captained many teams, so I'd be happy to participate and help in ways additionally as you saw fit.  The ACS is a big deal - my dad is a recent cancer survivor - lives in Fairview, OR - and ran HTC 20 times, his last year in 2009.  I have been touched by cancer with many family members, and friends otherwise and I'd take the fund-raising seriously as I have a strong network.

I also have no problem running the more challenging legs if those are still in need of filling.  I'm about an 8-8:30 pace depending on the leg and would enjoy supporting our other runners.  Please let me know as soon as possible as I've got a couple other team options, but this one supports an important cause that I'd enjoy backing.

Best - Joe

I also have a team that is raising money for ACS.  We had a last minute drop out that we need to fill.  So, if you are looking for a team and can raise $1500 by August, please let me know.  We are a super fun group of all different levels.  We won't win, but we'll have the most fun!
