Runners Seeking Teams / Durable runner looking to go run a bit
« on: August 16, 2022, 12:00:24 pm »
Hi...Art here...

16 HTCs, 18 medallions. Ultra runner; pretty fun.
I like to go fast...yet don't have to

I can run pretty much any pace you need.
If just the 3 legs I can keep it in the 7's
If a runner bonks I can pick up the extra leg

I'm only as competitive as you need me to be. ;-)
If you need a runner with some experience maybe, someone flexible and willing to hang out and actually clean up the van afterwards--count me in. Team player. Medically trained. Did I mention just how /fun/ I am?  I crack me up.

Your team sounds organized, fun and zippy--so far so good.

This will be #17. Supermaster (60) Ultramarathoner, I do a 13.1mi of gravel and singletrack mountain trail route alternating days: 2hrs +5min/-2min; 16~20 on the weekend, off season. I'm often an insurance policy as I can cover up to 3 more legs as folks bonk. It happens. I live in the valley, south of Ptld and will stay over at /wherever the team collects/crashes Friday night. Hint: I need to be able to stow the car over the weekend. I usually do the hills (#5/#6 combos). I'm medically trained. I'm a lot of fun. /really!/

Questions:
Cost/ Expenses
Location of hotel/lodging Friday

Your thoughts?

Hi
Whats the approx $ input if this were a match?

Super-master
15-yrs, 17 medals
I average 8:40 on a 8mile loop of difficult hills (trails and gravel). ~7-min on the rolling roadway.
Ran it last year with the Stiff Shafts - 1 of 3(?) have-porta-pot-will-travel DIY teams. --We saw lots of small groups doing a few of the favorite legs.
I train on trails and mostly compete in 15~50k trail runs with the annual 1/2M turkey trot as a reality (speed) check.

Nerd. Fun. etc

Hey Brady
I know HTC is a non-starter--but I was eyeing that 'Movement Virtual Relay' https://hoodtocoast.com/rs/movement-virtual-relay/ with 4~6 runners, 61mi.

I've done HTC 13 times...58yo male, usual route is 8mi hills in the McDonald forest, currently at 8:30/mi ave. 7:30 on paved roads and a bit...tamer...

So, is this year a wash for you guys or looking to run something...anyway?

Hi there,
I'm looking for a team; what does 'minimal expenses' look like?

8
I like beer.
My year-around training are the dirt/ gravel hills of the McDonald forest. 8~12 mi. per.
Just did Scandia 10k ~45min - Which is about as fast as it gets; and I urp'd so it must have been fun, too.

58yo male, 13th HTC, liberal hair and shaggy politics okay? ;-)

honico -at_ startmail.com --will email just now.

Hello
May I run with you folks?
I'm a serious trail runner who just loves the nuttiness of H2C; my 12th.

Hi

I'm Art--and I'd be driving up from Albany (just halfway down the state).

This will be my 12th H2C.  I'm a distance tail runner and train in the hills...pretty much only.  I usually drop in at the last minute and run with whomever.  Pace on the road is 7:30ish and sometimes I fill in with additional leg(s) when someone bonks. Sometimes both.  I'm not bubbly--however I'm kind and very motivational in a subdued sorta way.

Let me know if this could work and how the fees are looking.

cheers

I'm Art, 55
This will be my 12th HTC. Mostly I've done base legs of 6 or 5. As I'm a distance runner, I often fill in for dropped legs as well as my 3. This means I can run my 3 plus 3 of any others, either van. My max is 6. Gets a little crazy sometimes...but failure is not an option, so we make it work, right?

I can run 7's on pavement. I train on steep trails (McDonald Forest) where all my starts are uphill for the first couple miles and elev gain is 2~3000'.  I don't need 'watered' ;-) yet commiserate with those that do.

A couple of the teams I 'dropped in on' finished high; 4th (Virginia Tech Uni, Masters, don't remember the flavor exactly) and Masters of the Universe (5th Masters, corp males). I have the bib numbers and details for those and the other 9.

I'm flexible and don't break.  I'm fun enough and have good habits.

I'm shooting you an email just now as you've posted it.

cheers
